The Canadian Securities Administrators issued a proposal on Nov. 30, 2023, to give the Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments binding decision-making powers of up to $350,000, and whose decisions will be unappealable with no review by a securities commission review or requirement that a complainant to pay any costs of such proceedings (i.e., there are no loser-pay rules as in other court proceedings.
